3 reasons why NFV Orchestration is a hot topic
Category : Pulse
During last months there have been a large amount of press releases and announcements around NFV; many refer to Management and Orchestration (MANO) of the NFV architecture.
I see three reasons to talk about NFV MANO now:
- Mobile operators realized that MANO is key for the NFV business case to be positive
- Since Open Source initiatives have taken the role of standard bodies the pace of industry has accelerated and MANO is in their agenda with OPNFV
- Last year NFV was already important but attention was distracted in whether to use OpenStack or VMWare technologies for infrastructure management. Now that is solved and it is time to look further to applications and services management and orchestration
I have been following the NFV MANO developments during the last months and summarized my findings in a short report here
Others agree that 2015 is the year of MANO. What do you think?
